Autumn 1 Update
Sun Bear Class have settled in fantastically. They have been showing off all their skills already, and we are only 3 weeks into the term. Impressive!
We have been super busy and have been getting stuck into each and every day. We are getting used to the new routines and reminding ourselves of the school’s expectations.
In English, we have read two key texts. These are:
- Eat your people!
- How to catch a star.
When we focused on ‘Eat your people!’ we designed our own monsters and labelled them. We were focusing on labels and captions and the differences between these. We had some great monster designs! We labelled Miss Bowen's monster as a whole class and then designed and labelled our own – it was great fun!
In Maths, we have been super busy recapping and revisiting all the skills we had previously learnt in Reception. We have been focusing on number and place value. We had been counting and writing numbers, ordering numbers, finding one more and one less and this week we have started to do addition and subtraction.
For our foundation subjects, we have been leaf printing in Art, looking at the United Kingdom in Geography, Harvest in RE and exploring rhythm and beat in Music. We are very lucky to be able to go and use the new Creative Cave and have been working in groups with Mrs Beamer to tell a story through music – we were noticed for our fantastic collaboration skills.
