Spring 1 Update
Sun Bear class started off Spring term with a fun-filled trip to the museum. We had a fantastic trip to the Milestones Museum! We travelled there by coach, full of excitement and ready to explore. Once at the museum, we had the chance to look at and compare old toys with the ones they play with today. We then had plenty of free time to explore the exhibits and enjoy the museum's fascinating displays. The day was filled with learning as we took part in two fun and interactive workshops led by the amazing staff. It was an unforgettable adventure!
English:
In English, we spent the first few weeks exploring poetry. We listened to many colour poems. Once we had listened to all the poems, we wrote down a list of items that we thought matched the colour of the paper. We worked together in groups. Here are some photos of all the items we listed which matched each colour. We then went on to write our own colour poems.
We have also been exploring traditional tales. We re-read the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ and came up with some alternative ways in which the Gingerbread Man could be saved. As a class, the children voted for their favourite new ending and acted it out to the rest of the class. Here are some photographs of the children’s performances.
Geography:
In our exciting Geography lessons, we are comparing the town of Godalming in the UK with a location in Japan, looking at both human and physical geographical features. We learnt about the unique landscapes, cultures, and environments of each place. We have also done a fun quiz on Godalming. How well do you think you could do?
Science:
Sun Bear class have been having a fun time exploring different materials and learning about their properties. We investigated how materials like wood, metal, fabric, and plastic feel, bend, and react to water, helping them understand why certain materials are used for specific purposes!
We did an experiment and explored the properties of different materials, focusing on which type of paper is best for mopping up water. Through hands-on experiments, they learnt about absorbency and discovered why some papers work better than others for cleaning up spills!
